Day 8

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Diamond Beach is a black sand beach in Iceland next to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. The beach is famous for its icebergs that look like diamonds against the sand.

Jökulsárlón is a glacial lagoon, bordering Vatnajökull National Park in southeastern Iceland. Its still, blue waters are dotted with icebergs from the surrounding Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, part of larger Vatnajökull Glacier. The Glacier Lagoon flows through a short waterway into the Atlantic Ocean, leaving chunks of ice on a black sand beach. In winter, the fish-filled lagoon hosts hundreds of seals.
Glacier Lagoon Amphibian Boat Tour

We offer exciting boat trips on the lagoon in one of our four amphibian boats. During the excursion you sail among the huge icebergs in the picturesque scenery of Jökulsárlón.  On the boat you get to taste the 1000 year old ice and if you are lucky you might even see some seals.

The excursion takes 30–40 minutes and includes an English speaking guide who explains to you the geology and facts of the lagoon. Other languages may be offered upon request.

Boat Tour is at 10:00am
