    Travel Trivia:

    Big Ben is arguably London’s most famous landmark. Surprisingly, it is actually meant to go by the name ‘The Clock Tower’, while ‘Big Ben’ is the name of the bell.

Today’s Itinerary

Breakfast

Meet in the hotel restaurant. They have a good breakfast and it’s a great place to meet up and start our day.

Hop On Hop Off Bus

We will do the Hop on/off bus to get around which is included in the London pass. The bus starts near the hotel and we will take it to see Parliament and Big Ben, Westminter Abby, Buckingham Palace, Leister Square, Piccadilly Circus and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

First bus is at 9:30.

    Travel Tip:

    Remember to look both ways as you cross the street! They drive on the opposite side of the road and the cars won’t be coming from where you expect them. It can be dangerous for Americans! 🙂

Lunch: 1pm

My Old Dutch Restaurant

From St. Paul’s we will walk to the subway station and take the red line 2 stops to Holborn St. We will walk a couple of minutes and have lunch at My Old Dutch a crazy pancake place.

The British Museum

The British Museum is where we will spend the rest of the afternoon.

You will see the rosetta stone, Egyptian mummies, Assyrian architecture, Aztec jade snakes, crystal skulls, along with many other wonderful things the Brits have pillaged over the years.

Return to Lalit

To get back to the hotel we can take an Uber or we can take the subway. Take red line to bank street and switch to black line. Get off at London Bridge station and take the bus to the hotel. Seems complicated but its not bad just depends on how tired we are.

The Coal Shed

The Coal Shed, London celebrates coal roasted rare breed meat and South Coast seafood.

The Tower Bridge in London after sunset

The Shard, also referred to as the Shard of Glass, Shard London Bridge and formerly London Bridge Tower, is a 95-storey supertall skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. Located 800ft above the ground, The View from The Shard is the highest viewing platform in London and is the only place to see the entire city all at once. The Shard is within walking distance of our hotel.
